School Trips

Pupils in 11ème/Year 2 have had opportunities to visit the Toy Museum in Poissy and the Butterfly Farm in La Queue les Yvelines. These educational visits extend and support the class programmes.

Les Fauvettes

Each year the 7ème pupils from the Lycée and the Ecole Felix Eboué are given the opportunity to participate in the Ecology Trip to Les Fauvettes in Neauphle Le Vieux.

There is a wide range of practical, hands-on activities, many of these being difficult to include in the classroom programmes.  There is a great sense of adventure as the children explore the site, measuring the speed of the river, adopting a tree and investigating and observing the mini-beasts that live in and around it, building shelters and orienteering. It is also an ideal occasion for the pupils to use their artistic and creative talents. Included in the programme are individual and group art projects, observational drawings and pastel work.

The Normandy Trip

Thumbnail exampleIn 8ème there is an opportunity for pupils in all three classes to spend four days in Normandy.  This school trip is organised as part of the topic ‘Children in the Second World War’.

The pupils are encouraged to consider the similarities and differences between the landing at Pevensey Bay by William the Conqueror in 1066 and the Allied landings in Normandy in 1944.  Visits include the Bayeux Tapestry Museum, Pegasus Bridge, the Museum for the Battle of Normandy, the Caen Museum and the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches-les-Bains .

The emphasis is placed on the gathering of evidence. The children study the artefacts and natural features, considering how these would be used or exploited. The information posters, which were published at that time, allow the pupils to understand the power of the written and visual message.

This trip also provides an opportunity for the pupils to employ their creative skills. They assemble their own version of the Bayeux Tapestry and design group badges inspired by regimental insignia.

Also included are some delicious seaside ice-creams!
