Primary Forum

What is the Primary Forum ?

The Primary Forum is an informal, termly meeting open to all British Section staff and parents with children in British Section maternelle and/or primary classes at the Lycée main site in St Germain, at Ecole Felix Eboue or Maternelle Jehan Alain in Le Pecq.

What does it do?

The Primary Forum provides the only setting at which parents and staff can meet, find out about and discuss issues relating directly to the educational programme and learning environment in the British Section primary department (Maternelle 1 to 7°).

How does it function?

  • Meetings are held once a term in the evening. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, and refreshments are provided.

  • The Head of Primary and several other members of the primary staff attend each meeting.

  • The first part of each meeting is devoted to a presentation on a specific aspect of British Section teaching, while the second half is a more general question-and-answer session.

  • Although participants are encouraged to ask questions and make suggestions, no formal decisions are taken at these meetings. However, if issues arise which need specific action, they are noted as such in the minutes and referred to the BSPTG (which meets once a term after the Primary Forum and Secondary Forum meetings).

  • The Forum is run by volunteer parents who are responsible for inviting parents and teachers to the meetings, informing them about the topic of the presentation and requesting questions to raise, writing up the minutes and sending them to the Website manager.
