The British Section

The Lycée International St Germain-en-Laye & Partner Schools

Context of the British Section

The British Section is unusual compared to most schools that provide English medium education outside the UK in that it is part of French state host schools and only offers part-time education in English.  Alongside other national sections, it provides teaching in English language and culture for students who are or become fluent enough in English to profit from it.  Two subjects are taught in the secondary section, English and history/ geography.

The Inspection Evidence Base

In all, 58 Lessons or part lessons were seen in total over four days amounting to 46 hours 30 minutes in all.  All teachers were seen teaching at least once, and most full-time staff at least twice.  A total of 12 hours was spent scrutinising pupils’ written work.  Meetings were held with senior and middle managers, as well as more informal discussions with other teachers.

Formal feedback was given to all senior and middle managers, as well as brief informal feedback to other teachers.
